  • Rain..Rain...Rain

It is raining again in Chicago!  This afternoon we had a terrible storm that uprooted a tree and sat it on the wall and on Broadway.  Luckily, it did not land on any of our employees cars, and just a little scratch or two to a car on Broadway.

The first year cadets are settling in, and there first week or orientation is almost over.  On Monday, the second year return, and hopefully soon the campus will fall into some routine.

Josh is moving to Crystal Lake on Saturday, and I will have the house to myself again.  It will be lonely for awhile without him.  However, going to Crystal Lake as a Corps intern is a good thing, as he prepares to enter training in 2008.

  • Vacation is over!!!!

Yes, vacation is over and time to go to work.  I am going very slow this morning, but must get going since today is payroll day.

Vacation was wonderful and very restful.  I resisted the urge and did not look at Lotus Notes, so I have no idea how many e mails I need to answer today.

I went to visit my best friend in her new appointment, went to visit a cadet and hear her preach.  Then, I came home and spent several days in my house.  It was great!  I read several novels, went shopping, more shopping, etc.

I also cleaned Josh's room.  He may not be so impressed when he comes home from Camp.  I have warned him, so he doesn't totally freak out!

Now, I must get up and go to the office.  Have a great day!

  • Sunday

The Norridge Corps welcomed Majors Steve and Morag Yoder this morning and their son, Sam.  The chapel was packed, and it was a wonderful worship service.  After the morning worship, a luncheon was held in the gym.  Quite a people stayed for the luncheon.  It was a wonderful day to be at the Corps.

Josh brough a few friends home from Army Lake Camp.  I will take them back in the morning.  They are out at a mall shopping.  I am making cinnamon rolls for Josh to take back.  Will Rowland is helping.  He spreads the sugar, cinnamon on the dough, and today learned how to cut them.

When the mall shoppers return, we are going to cook hot dog and hamburgers on the grill outside.  It is a beautiful day to be out.

I hope that you have had a great day in the Lord.  He is so good to me.

  • Brengle

Brengle begins on Monday.  It is a great experience to meet officers from around the United States.  As usual in Chicago, Monday will be a hot and humid day.

My job is to go to the airport and meet them at the terminal.  It is so much fun looking for uniforms in the crowds, and sending them out to the vans.

Josh is going to Army Lake to work for the summer.  It should be a good experience for him again to do some counseling.  He is still waiting for his internship spot in the Fall.

    Have a great day!

  • I can't believe I'm 55!!!

Can it be true?  I walk up this morning - my birthday, and realized I know can order the senior slam from Denny's.  And then as I checked my email, I received another invitation from AARP to join.  You know, you get a free pedometer if you join today.

What a birthday it was!  I cleaned in Booth all day, had birthday cake in the dining room for lunch, went out to supper with my Brigade, and then came home to find my last year's brigade sitting in my living room.  I am so blessed to work with incredible cadets who are answering God's call!  Supper was great at Uncle Julio's Hacienda.  We had a great time of fellowship and remembering all the great times we have had on Brigades this year.

Tomorrow is Donut Day, and then the FCC program, picnic in the evening.  Saturday the Heralds picnic, and Sunday is covenant Sunday.

I hope that you have had a great day!
